Glastonbury is a recommended stop off, brimming with culture, heritage, and magnificent architecture, where you'll have the chance to visit the Somerset Rural Life Museum, discover Glastonbury Abbey, hike up to the National Trust grounds of Glastonbury Tor, or bird watch across RSPB Ham Wall. Nearby attractions include Wheathill Golf Club, where you can practise your swing, Lytes Cary Manor, a stunning manor house encircled by lovely gardens and owned by the National Trust, and Combe Hill Wood, a sizable National Forest. In the direction of the Mendip Hills AONB, there are other points of interest, including the Bishop's Palace & Gardens, the Wookey Hole Caves, and the walking and cycling routes in the Ebbor Gorge National Nature Reserve. Weymouth and the Isle of Portland, which are recommended stops for a taste of both the coast and the countryside, are accessible from Charlton Adam via the Dorset AONB.
