There is lots to explore on foot from your doorstep, with quaint wynds and lanes in the old fishing village of Cellardyke, as well as the bustling Anstruther harbour area within five minutes’ walk, where there are eating places to suit all tastes, from an award-winning fish and chip shop to a Michelin starred restaurant, cafés, bars, local shops and galleries. From April to September there are daily ferries and boat trips leaving from Anstruther that take you to the Isle of May, which is a National Nature Reserve and home to colonies of sea birds, including puffins, and the surrounding waters are the habitat of seal colonies; well worth a visit.
Perfect for walkers and cyclists there is the Fife Coastal Path, which runs through the village and leads in either direction to secluded coves, little fishing villages, and white sandy beaches.
