Summary: A very pleasant stay of three nights in a Superior Heritage room - we would stay here again. Our charming, quirky upstair room in the roof space, had a very comfortable bed, was well appointed and had good storage. Access was via steep stairs which were absolutely fine if you turned sideways on and held the rail - the quirky ancient charm is all part of the stay. The bedroom door opens into the bathroom with separate side toilet. I specifically selected a room with a bath and so I was very happy with it, but it is worth noting the bath does not come with a shower curtain, so bathing really was the only option. The bedroom’s double aspect windows gave pleasingly good airflow during what was a hot spell and made the room very pleasant indeed. Ventilation for the toilet and bathroom area is via these same windows and was very efficient. Downstairs had a charming little fireplace lobby/sitting room with information leaflets on a dresser. The airy and well run breakfast area / Esme’s tearooms was wonderful. All staff were really friendly, efficient, hardworking, and genuinely interested in their guests and visitors. Of special note was the wonderful Daisy, whom we looked forward to seeing each morning. Daisy gave us some very helpful ideas of places to visit. We also enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea one day, with all food beautifully presented. The cakes were amazing and the tea garden was attractive and spacious. A lovely stay - thank you.
