Summary: I booked the stay as part of a surprise for my husband's birthday, and he was very impressed and absolutely raved about it. He could not fault a single thing about our stay. Starting with the location, it was not far to walk to York centre (around 20 minutes or so). We stayed in the Samurai suite. The theming of the room was fantastic, right down to the sunken bath. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and it was evident that the owners had not scrimped on quality of the furnishings or bedding. We had a very warm welcome from our hosts, and were greeted each morning at breakfast equally warmly and by name. The selection at breakfast was fantastic, even down to the homemade granola which was so tasty, I bought a bag to bring home with me. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his cooked breakfast which could be personalised when ordering the night before and ready for a time of our choosing. The whole stay was faultless from start to finish.
