Take a short drive to Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens, or drive a little further to attractions such as Hadrian's Wall, Howick Hall and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle and Northumberland Country Zoo. Take a boat trip over to the Farne Islands where you might catch sight of an unusual bird or seal. If you love wildlife, then you've come to the right place with RSPB reserves at Annstead Dunes and Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre. Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick.
